Anti-piracy initiatives appreciated
28 07 2007Hyderabad, July 27: Anti-piracy initiatives in Andhra Pradesh the past two years, especially after the Anti-Piracy Cell was formed, have come in for praise from the Los Angeles-based Motion Picture Association (MPA).
The AP model was the subject of seminar on ‘Legal aspects related to film piracy - Implementation of piracy laws in A.P.’ organised by MPA together with the NALSAR University of Law here on Thursday.
M. Ratan, Additional Director-General of Police, said in the past two years, ever since the Anti-Piracy Cell was set in AP, 4,065 cases of violation of piracy laws were booked, 23 of which were convictions.
P. Keshava Reddy, a former police officer and now Chief Coordinator, Anti-Piracy Cell at the AP Film Chamber of Commerce, said improving awareness among film-makers, law enforcement agencies and the general public was a continuous task for them.Â
